La Spiga, located along High Street’s gallery row in a 1913 heritage home, offers nouveau Italian cooking with an emphasis on fresh, stylish ingredients and unusual tastes and textures. There’s a large selection of appetizers for starters or light dining. The rack of lamb is marinated in fresh herbs and grappa, while the prawns and scallops are paired with a white-wine lemon sauce and served over angel-hair pasta. The dining room is casual and comfortable, and in summer there is alfresco dining. Service is laid-back but astute.
